Lily Allen - 22 (directed by Jake Scott)
Brilliant in its simplicity.
And I think Jake got Lily's acting to top drawer levels - she acts like a seasoned RADA pro here. Very impressive.
I did have a slight pencil to shoot this (as if), which would have been fun. But whoever finally shot it did a great job.
My hat's already on the floor resting next to my case.
toilet trash talk? lilly tells tabloids to fuck off? dont like the script, but the photography is great
Haha, it's got a bit of uncle Tony's patented yellow/green grade to it.
But yeah, wonderful work by Jake, great perf from Lily and a surprisingly effective and moving video about the female experience.
lily's videos continue to be excellent.
the best song she has written so far. it represents one of the main ideas of popmusic: catchy surface & sad background (which is actually a system lily has internalized). the video is perfectly done, maybe another visual level which would have supported the funny melody would have made the video even more depressing as it already is.
While it would've been nice to see another scene or two this video still rocked. Great job all around and like msm said, Lily Allen becomes more and more likable each time out. This is good, solid, creative pop video making!
K
maybe a little bit too repetitive, but it works. as a french girl I also found this vid so british.
Brilliant. Perfect example where 1+1=3. Amazing, really.
About Lily, funny how she's becoming more what i had already suspected somewhere with her second single: she's the female version of Morrissey. Of course, this is not the 80s, but however. Songs like HOW SOON IS NOW and LAST NIGHT I DREAMT THAT SOMEBODY LOVED ME kept coming to my mind everytime I hear this song.
on first watch i thought there was a continuity issue with the hair, apparently that's the idea,
@almotasim re: Morrissey you are kidding right?
Superb. Some really ace work here.
don't really get the better lily in the mirror thread, but still really nice. especially great camerawork/grade.
lovely (tho i'm thick, & thus with gwizz/captain).
@ G.,Capt.,Prog. - self esteem metaphor with the mirror aside, they HAD to get a glam. shot Lily in there or it wouldn't fly. She is a pop princess after all. Beautifully done literal rendering of the tracks meaning overall,IMO. Really nice!
Nice piece! It stings! the dogs bolloxs!
