Arctic Monkeys "Cornerstone" - Dir: Richard Ayoade
I like that!
i'm a big fan of richard ayaode... but i'm not sure i see any point in this video, especially attaching 'Dir' next to it.
this is what one looks like when watching the above music video
i think this is great. simple is sometimes the best and it brings out a fantastic performance out of Alex Turner. Nice nod to Bresson's Quatre Nuits d'un Rêveur too.
I think sometimes videos try too hard to be big and clever, and this is all that particular song needed.
if this was no-name band + no name director you'd all liken it to the $1 Mixtape van rides vids and not give a single comment.
awesome song, great band, good director, but video is not one bit noteworthy and i'd like to hear any argument otherwise.
Any video is only as good as the song behind it. I agree this may have been lame for 99% of other acts, but it does work here purely because of who the artist is and the nature of the song/lyrics.
It's not groundbreaking or award-winning but it is a solid, simple video.
Look at some random MTV Videos... Many music videos looks like commercials. It's natural that sometimes a "simple video" pops up. Thats all. There is no big idea behind it... and thats the idea. Look at the lates Roman Copola Work for this french guy.
I dig it - more than any of his other videos actually. I have nothing wrong with an uber minimalist video. I wish that more labels and artists felt the same way. I'm sure Artic Monkey's still get at least a decent budget to make a clip all things considered. It's nice to see that the director may have actually gotten paid on something and didn't have to beg his uncle to pay for someone else's promo.
Disappointing. Who is going to look back in 20 years and say this was ground breaking.
Anyone could have made that and nice one to him for cashing in on it.
I think he is in his Kanye phase where he can do whatever he wants and pass it off as good.
this video is shit and sharpiesharpie has got lots of humour
oh geez people. This is a classic example of how antville works.
Exactly, Budget. 'anyone could make this video' is about the dumbest comment I have ever read on here. I wonder what the average age on here is these days? Twelve? Maybe fourteen?
What I meant was well done to him on being clever enough to cash in on something anyone could do
erm, what I meant was, "anyone could make this video".
I heard the budget for this was 200k.
no,it was more like 2000k
you lot are like beavis and buthead on here. it was a small budget and appropriated very well in my opinion. when you've finished playing with each others balls, go pick up a camera and let us all see what you can do, eh?
@sharpiesharpesharpe
lol.
