Pulp - This Is Hardcore (Dir. Doug Nichol, 1998)
all time favourite epic
One of my all-time faves as well.
i'll second that
third. classic!
the kind of video that makes anyone making videos today, including myself, incredibly depressed.
I hate youtube... - cant see the clip. any .mov around?
never seen that. floored. (class act, mr. j.) (mov here, courtesy of tony kearns' rich editing reel.)
Agreed, an absolute classic.
@shoplifter, I don't know why you should feel depressed, surely it's a level of conception and execution that you should aspire to and be inspired by.
Watching a classic like this shouldn't be as depressing as watching the myriad of uninspired and idealess videos that appear on the ville.
niiice. a feature film to me.
@greg- it's depressing because no matter how much you want to aspire to this level- it's pretty much impossible these days.
You can't shoot this video in a day. Not possible.
You can't shoot it without a full experienced crew with proper budgets at their disposal.
Shooting it on anything less than 35mm would be a shame.
I don't want to be bitter but...
One thing I will give you is that the best thing about this video is it's interesting blurring of reality and drama/ stagey-ness and exposing the machinations. And that 'idea' doesn't cost any money.
That style though... don't come cheap.
Let's be honest, this video is all about the style. The concept is cool and all, but the execution is awesome.
