"Why Don't You Love Me" - Beyoncé (dir: MELINA & Bee Z)
It's looks like they posted it in SD (and shot S8 and 16mm?), but yeah there are bits of ugly interlacing. I thought parts of it where perhaps a little too hammy and daft, but I enjoyed it though; I find it hard not to watch a beyonce video without my tongue out.
yeah in sex appeal scale she's got gaga aguilera et all beat by a long shot.
bueno, and the quality doesnt bother me..
Ace.
the video is ok. beyonce looks so good though.
FINALLY. gaga, are you watching?? understated, smart, effective.

Why do big time artists upload shitty compressed clips?
Film grain + combing artifacts = at least 2Mbit for a decent encode.
The one at RSA has no combing artifacts, but still too much grain:
i think that's deliberate, dek.
^ I don't mind the grain, I just hate seeing interlacing.
Obviously grain is deliberate, but Vimeo compresses at <1Mbps, so the options are:
- remove grain
- clip will look like crap
(unless you mean that making it look like crap was deliberate!)
RSA goes up to 1.6Mbps but apparently still not enough (or their encoder sucks).
Combing artifacts actually comes very likely from deinterlacing a video that wasn't interlaced in the first time (being European, for a long time I mistakenly took 3:2 pulldown to be interlacing.)
I've had pretty good luck with grain on vimeo, the initial h264 export already cuts down on a lot of the grain and flattens the image. Whoever exported this got his fields all screwed up, but yeah out of the 1.2 million people that already saw the clip, not many are going to care. Anyhow... props to the label for actually uploading the clip to vimeo. More majors should do that.
