the kinect is the new data moshing or the new 5d
Still, as a "first" it does a good job.
as a first, this ones better looking
but im not impresed with it either we have yet to wait for a video to incorporate the data mapping skillfully, in a manner thats more than a mere technique (mere technique so to speak, am sure there's a lot of work involved from reading the data captured to creating something visually appealing) house of cards was really something, u need something to top thatRight, I get that.
Guys: you're missing the point. House of Cards was the result of a major corporate-like project that envolved a ton of technicians and engineers. This one was made by 3 guys (being one of them the musician that composed and produced the track) via a gadget available on the market. That's what makes this so damned relevant.
you're right re: 3 guys vs corporate project
but do you remember super mario clouds by cory arcangel?
he also was a pioneer in that he hacked a video game and he created something new out of it; and whilst i can applaud the initiative, i am not impressed with the outcome. sooner or later someone will use the same tool and come up with something sexy, worth remembering for its artistic value, and not because he was the first to use the kinectBut this someone (who will do something sexy and worth remembering for its artistic value) will always owe to these pioneer guys. Nevertheless, i think that there's a relevant artistic value in those two videos. But let's agree to disagree. :-)
