The Grates, "Turn Me On" (dir. Dimitri Basil)
I really like this
i like the song
Good work, great taste, Dimitri!
Overall I kind of like this but I think it's mainly because of the energy of the song and the pace of the edit. If I stop to concentrate on any of the shots or tricks than instantly I think this is heavily referencing something I have seen before in other videos / films or as a shot is not at all interesting on it's own. Which is different to say other recent random videos like Keith Schofield or Canada where individual shots are for more interesting and the references far more obscure. That said it does work overall and the direction of the girl is good. The kids will like it.
WTF jules in my opinion is a little great clip, i don't see any resemblance to canada,
@stephf - are you sure? Random images, flash editing, mysticism? You haven't seen that in pretty much all of Canada's videos? Are you saying that the plethora of random image videos this year wasn't spurred by 'Heaven Can Wait' and 'Bombay'??
I didn't say it was bad, just pointing out that the majority of images and tricks, on their own are not that interesting to me and thus the video relies on the pace and timing of the edit to keep the audience interested.
I do like the image of that tunnel at the end... that's cool and I'm not sure how it was done. Also I'm sure that the director did the best he could with a smallish budget.
the director nailed it with a budget not even worthy for a "funniest home video".
A good music video. Not many of those round here.
