The narrative of music videos in 2013 has been really interesting. Everything is going pop, and pop is taking all kinds of weird chances. Overall, I think this is the most exciting, unpredictable year for videos since the mid-00's.

Will this video thrill antville? Of course not. It's not the right music/artist/style. But it's an important video that's already iconic. Miley's 2 for 2 this year in terms of making videos that resonate in pop culture and beyond.

I actually like this video, and I am a fan of Terry Richardson in general.

Slag me if you will, but I think this video is better than everything you've made since maybe Welcome to Heartbreak.

It's well acted, confidently shot, tightly edited and features already-iconic imagery. It's minimalistic.

It's exciting.
