Call for the Wall
CALL FOR MOVING IMAGE AND DIGITAL MEDIA ARTWORK Are you ready to screen your work on…..
The City of Oakland, California is now accepting works for possible screening on the “Great Wall of Oakland.” This 100 by 100-foot outdoor wall overlooks the busy intersection of Grand Avenue and Broadway in the bustling center of Oakland’s Uptown District, surrounded by restaurants, condominiums and galleries.
Now in its second year of programming, the Great Wall of Oakland is the canvas for exciting experimental media art by contemporary regional and international media artists as well as classic film and video selections. Screenings are held after dark on the first Friday of each month, the night of the monthly Oakland ArtMurmur gallery walk.
We have established themes for each month’s show and encourage you to submit work that relates either literally or extremely loosely to these themes. You may submit artwork at any time for any month OR work that does not pertain to any of these themes. We look forward to seeing your creativity!

Ethics in music videos - case study #6
Here's the scenario: a director's commissioned to shoot a video. it's a beautiful track, a good band and label; no contract is signed, but the video is shot, delivered, and paid for. the director's very happy with the results (as usual, quite a few favours were pulled), and so are the artists & label. in fact the video gets screened at a rather prestigious festival - but then, things get weird. (more inside)
Technical Question
I've always wanted to know how exactly mutliple motion control passess are fused together.
Are changing / moving figures and objects rotoscoped and composited or is there software that automaticaly figures out the difference between the layers and merges them together.
If rotoscoping was the case, i just cant even comprehend how it would have been done on Kylies video. There are literally dozens of moving elements.
Hope this makes sense?

Shy Child - Astronaut (Dir. Seth Kirby)
"It's yet another song about how the music scene is dumb". Astronaut is released off their third album "Noise Won't Stop" on Kill Rock Stars.
Radiohead - 'Nude' | 'Big Ideas (don't get any)' | Director Interview
I have had this idea knocking around in my head for a few years, and was just waiting for the perfect time to use it. 'Nude' just felt right - the lyrics "don't get any big ideas and you paint yourself white, and fill up with noise, but there'll be something missing" fit seamlessly with the concept of the video. It's such a haunting song.

Does anyone remember the director
Hi there... need some help on this one.
This was a very cool japanese video that featured doubles of the artist. The camera then tracked as the doubles stayed still and this created the illusion of an animation. Its a year or two old.
does anyone remember the artist and/or director??
Thanks in advance!
