tutorial: YouTube and Dailymotion Quicktime links
Though Flash has grown by leaps and bounds, with all major outlets now offering (so-called) HD playback, Quicktime .h264 is still a gold standard, both professionally and round here at the 'ville. What better, then, than a simple way to provide direct Quicktime links to the YouTube and/or Dailymotion videos you're itching to post? (Hundreds of antcast subscribers will heart you for it.) Earn 'ville benevolence points by making these a habit:
YouTube Simply take the "code" part of the youtube link, and stick it into this URL in place of the x's: youtubemp4.com In order for it to show up in the antcast, instead of embedding the video, post the direct YouTube link and the .mp4 link (plus, of course, a nice screenshot). The mp4 will automatically be the highest resolution available for that video. UPDATE: this method's currently not working (broken by new YouTube API).
Dailymotion Take the "code" part of the dailymotion link, and stick it into this URL in place of the x's: iphone.dailymotion.com This will take your browser (Firefox&Safari both work) to a page with a still image - when clicked, the m4v loads. Select "View Source" and you'll see a link with "/get/" in it - that's the one, including all the numbers and letters following the ".h264?" part. Post it as described above.
Unfortunately, Vimeo will never have direct permalinks; Myspace technique, anyone?

The concept is nuclear fusion in the micro world, matching poetic animation to a heavy-hitting track.
