The Locals "Everything Must Go" directed by Samantha Westerling
Music video from Chicago, alt pop indie rock band The Locals. "Everything Must Go" (SALT 2011). The video is stop motion with illustrations drawn entirely on a giant, old school chalk board. Shot in Chicago, this new video from The Locals is directed by Samantha Westerling with story by Jen Larson.(Jen and Samantha are two thirds of the band "Swimsuit Addition"). Illustrated, by Jack Haynes, using only run of the mill chalk on a blackboard, the video is so much fun to watch.
The story shows the main character "Marty", in an ominous position as his home begins to crack apart all around him, he is presented with a box of matches from a mischievous shadowy character. Best part: when one of the matches lights itself by doing a massive Pete Townsend like windmill swing, striking it's own head on the ground. Fans of The Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs & Tegan and Sara and The Whigs dig The Locals
The Grand Rapids LipDub (NEW WORLD RECORD)
"The Grand Rapids LipDub Video was filmed May 22nd, with 5,000 people, and involved a major shutdown of downtown Grand Rapids, which was filled with marching bands, parades, weddings, motorcades, bridges on fire, and helicopter take offs. It is the largest and longest LipDub video, to date.
This video was created as an official response to the Newsweek article calling Grand Rapids a "dying city." We disagreed strongly, and wanted to create a video that encompasses the passion and energy we all feel is growing exponentially, in this great city. We felt Don McLean's "American Pie," a song about death, was in the end, triumphant and filled to the brim with life and hope." - Rob Bliss, Director & Executive Producer
*Note: The "NEW WORLD RECORD" designation refers to size and scope, not duration.
This $40,000 production was entirely financed by the generosity of local sponsors that are listed below: ..."
