Azeem "Open Em Up" | Director: Little Red Robot
Indie rapper Azeem walks through some 3-D photo-realistic cityscapes in this video stunner from the creative crew at Little Red Robot. Despite the motion and light trails seen in the slow shutter photographs that serve as the backdrop — mind you, backdrop isn't the right word since these photos truly look like enveloping three-dimensional scenes — the only person moving is Azeem. Technically speaking, the shoot involved hi-res time-lapse still photos on-location in the Bay Area and NYC, plus a live-action HD video shoot with Azeem on a green screen set and treadmill. The elements were then composited and given a 3-D special effects treatment by a team that previously worked on Iron Man and The Dark Knight. If you're a tech head, here's the specs:
* Still photography: Canon EOS 5D full-frame digital SLR camera with RAW 4k resolution
* Live action video: Red One Camera with 35mm lenses at 4K resolution
* Effects software (for all that 3-D whizzbang): Nuke and Maya

A while back, a kid walked directly into my apartment and asked "who's the kid with the studio." When I reluctantly answered that that was me he sat down in it and demanded that a mic be set up and a beat get played. This being totally out of the ordinary I obliged. He just let his voice go over whatever came his way. Giving me chills every few bars. He picked up an acoustic and played Deftones songs better than any acoustic Deftones performance I've heard.
