The Lana Show - music video encounters with Lana Kim, in a closet.
trailer here; site here. (backstage with no age.)
"Lana is the head of music videos at The Directors Bureau (home of directors such as Roman and Sofia Copolla and Geoff McFetridge) and now she will be shooting her new show in the utility closet at TBD. Musicians and groups such as Blonde Redhead, St. Vincent, Fatlip, Ratatat and more step into the closet and fall victim to Lana’s charm, stories and questions."
Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes (Dir. Nima Nourizadeh)

so, here's not the new bravia-spot, it indeed is the new santogold-video, directed by nima, who, by the way, has a sparkling new website up (nice intro).
and here are some - as always - wonderful first words by popjustice.
to me, the video's a bit close to ace norton's SMD one, talking of colours etc etc. on the other hand, the splashing paint reminds me of "ready for the floor". you see: i already got confused...
in related news: when's this ace norton-video for "creator" coming out?

Sober Killer – "Step" – directed by Christoph Kuschnig
“Power and Equality” & “Always see everything, my brother” - the two quotations from the movie Ghost Dog set the tone of the first Sober killer video “Step”, from the album Allergic, released in December 2008 under the label Motor (Berlin).
Sam Vadaht, aka Sober killer, sees brute electronica as the heart and soul of his music. He uses intense sound aesthetics, which always remains palpable and energetic.
Palpable and energetic - that’s how the New York based director Christoph Kuschnig translated the music into imagery.
The human fights stubbornly with an invisible force that strikes him down over and over again. He leaves temporary traces in the asphalt and finds the truth.

Crash test Dummies "Keep a Lid on Things"
Chucked this up because it’s an old favorite that seemed to almost be blink and you miss it when it came out. It’s a really simple concept and at first glimpse there is almost nothing there but it’s so well designed, shot and edited that it just rolls along beautifully. Only thing is I never knew who directed it and a lazy search didn’t reveal who it was so I thought I would stay lazy and ask the ville.
Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS) "Music is My Hot Hot Sex" Editor: Clarus Bartel
Here's a fan video made from green screen footage of CSS. Cool song, but pretty stupid video. Just looks like someone testing out filters and color correction. Well believe it or not, this is THE MOST POPULAR VIDEO in the HISTORY OF YOUTUBE with 87million hits and counting. More hits than Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" or "The Evolution of Dance." And where those videos took months to hit those numbers, this CSS video has been clearing 3M hits a day.
You'll say: "it's in an ipod commercial, they're big in Brazil, it's popular on the blogs...." but that would lead to Feist "1234" numbers, in the 1-10M range. There's no way this video is actually this popular without some kind of hack or Youtube bug. Who's got theories?

Gold Digger (Diplo Remix)
Hello ! I hope nobody will be annoyed by my post; but I need your advices ! I'm doing a "prohibition era" party in 2 weeks with a friend of mine, and we are looking for music that sounds 30's or 40's but that is "fresher", I mean with old samples, etc... e.g. the "Idlewild" album from Outkast ! I also found a Diplo remix of Ray Charles and some other stuff (I put what I found here : www.lastfm.fr)
If you have ideas of what could be cool, please comment ! (on last.fm is even better)
thanks a lot everybody !
