Jennifer Lopez’s first single off her 9th album was meant to be an anti-housewife, pro-feminist anthem but it sparked some backlash online. Fans on social media criticized Lopez for working with Dr. Luke.
Producer Dr. Luke is in the midst of a legal battle with singer Kesha. He’s suing her for defamation and breach of contract while Kesha tried counter-suing him for infliction of emotional distress, gender-based hate crimes, and employment discrimination. Kesha also accused Dr. Luke of raping and drugging her. The day before this song was released, a judge in New York dismissed all of Kesha’s counter-claims against Dr. Luke.
Meghan Trainor, who co-wrote the song, defended J. Lo while talking with Digital Spy:
"[It was] not fair on her, not at all. I texted her the song and she had no idea—she thought I did it alone by myself at my house, which a lot of people think because I do do that.
“I sent it to her and said, ‘Do you like the song?’ and she said, ‘I love the song, my kid loves the song – he’s made me play it five times already so I know it’s a hit – when can I cut it?’, so I said immediately, ‘Whenever you want!’”
Lopez performed the song on stage for the finale of American Idol.

Iraq is known to be a hotbed of violence one of the most dangerous regions in the world so much so that Iraq is often used as a metaphor for extreme violence such as "Chiraq" the Chicago adopted term used to reference the severity of the violence in the windy city, Tony K has crafted this song in that sense that "Welcome to Baghdad" echoes the violence in every treacherous neighborhood across the world from Chicago to Baghdad to Tony K's current home of Detroit, MI.
Tony K showcases both his rapping and producing abilities on this remarkable track.
