Launching with a sweeping aerial, this tragedy takes a conscious journey through one man’s memories in pursuit of a beloved moment in time. This narrative-form music video, inspired by the song’s lamenting lyrics and mellow eighties synth tracks, was funded completely out of pocket in an effort to push the filmmakers’ own creative boundaries.

Document - Basic [Official Video]
The video for Document's track 'Basic' is a collaborative effort between director Nir Ben Jacob (R.E.M., The Walkmen, Great Lake Swimmers) and New York artist Samuel Gomez. Gomez's work re-imagines the landscape and the future of nature through surreal intricate graphic illustrations filled with symbolism. He depicts dystopian scenes that are comprised of mechanical and industrial elements dealing with automation, oppression, capitalism and sustainability issues. Director Nir Ben Jacob brings his illustrations to life by animating the elements in the scenes and overlaying them over ominous portraits of the band members. The intricacy of the illustration and looped-nature of the animation is complemented by the melancholy track, which ends with an except of Borge's The Aleph in which Borges describes the entire universe contained in a "small iridescent sphere of almost unbearable brilliance." The result is video filled with a sense of foreboding, anxiety, and unease.
