"You Only Live Twice" - Nancy Sinatra directed by Wildlife
"You Only Live Twice" - Nancy Sinatra from Wildlife on Vimeo.
We were excited to experiment with using VFX and CG elements in a very emotional, intimate and visceral way to tell our story rather than the typical big budget explosions and cliche effects.
We were really drawn to the haunting string sounds that open this song and persist throughout. The lyrics focus on second chances and missed opportunities and we wanted to create a visual story that would give new context to the music in an unexpected way.
The image of a lost astronaut came to mind almost immediately and taking a cue from the 60s era song, we angled to give the video a retro-futuristic vibe and that helped guide the art direction and visual development along the way.
The shoot was in the desert in 105 degree heat so it was very easy for our astronaut to get into character in those grueling conditions. Everyone on the crew stuck it out as we battled the elements, a sand-trapped grip truck and a run-in with a park ranger. It was an intense post-process with a ton of VFX shots and a quick turnaround but we're very happy with the end result.
This was our 2nd year participating in the Videophonic panel at Promax/BDA. The assignment called for us to create a music video for a song that came from the pre-MTV era and give it the video it deserves. We were excited to be included alongside some other great design and animation studios like Roger, Big Machine, Click3x and others.
Charles Walker Band - Shot of Love [Live from Ashville, NC]
This video was shot in April 2013 at Tressa's Downtown Lounge in Ashville, NC. Shot of Love was written and recorded by Charles in 2006 on their second album "Hotel Room Blues". This show was one of the stops on their two week "Relentless" tour.
Smile - Zar feat: Farai Directed by David Garcia
We wanted to create a world that reflects what the artist has gone through in the last year and what the song is about. Mainly, the tragic murder of Zar's brother Michael and the death of his best friend, Joel, soon after. In the song Zar reflects about the meaning of this and talks directly to God about his attitude towards life from that point
We didn't want to just recreate the events narrated in the song literally but instead come up with a different story that would still compliment the lyrics and at the same time acknowledge other issues that are relevant in today's news; things like riots taking place all over the world or the case of Trayvon Martin who the artist felt closely connected to due to its similarity with his brother's case

One Bomb - Take Over feat. Aja and Jackdalad (Dir. PUSH)
We wanted to create a video that wasn't directly linked to the bands sound and persona. Setting it in a victorian manor house helped us create a classic, grandiose backdrop for Aja and JDL's strained relationship to unfold.
The up and coming band are based in the same building as our studio, and to try and help support them with their new EP we produced the video on zero budget. Alfreton Hall, which is where the video was shot, helped us out and gave us a free afternoon in their great location where it was just us two and the band.
The whole video was shot in under 4 hours which meant at times we had to use multiple cameras cameras on each artist, a little stressful but great fun!
