SEXY PUNK
The song:
I wanted to write something that was funky and fun. I had had the title SEXY PUNK for a while and I just had to find the right way to dress it up, both lyrically and sound wise. Musically it's very current electro-pop with my signature big hook chorus and I added a hint of dub step for good measure. The lyrics are very tongue in cheek, they’re not to be taken too seriously. I even sang it with a hint of a British accent, tried on the Jagger Swagger for a bit. Any time a girls tells you she wants you to spin her round like a record, you gotta figure it’s all in good fun :-)
The video:
The overall theme for the video was "love" and to use short scenes to show love in different ways, from replicating Marilyn Monroe's famous kiss into the camera, to someone wearing a gas mask holding up a sign saying "inhale love". Whatever the scene, it was important to me that the message I was sending was positive and diverse. Editing wise I was looking for the scenes to move in rhythm to the music, which I think Bryce Prevatte, the director, pulled off beautifully.
