CONGRATS TO DAWKINS FOR BEING ONE OF WARP'S WINNERS:
As per Warp's press release:
In November 04 we launched the second Warp Vs Creative review video competition. We asked directors to submit a show reel of their work from which we selected 10 winners. These winning directors now have the opportunity to showcase their talents by making a video for one of five tracks from Warp artists which will feature on Creative Review's DVD, on the Warp website and at numerous film festivals around the world.
We had an incredible amount of entries which it took the judges over three days to whittle down to the winning ten. The winning directors and the artists they will be working on are:
Gravenhurst Raliltza Petrova (London) Thomas Hicks (Surrey)
Mira Calix Bentley (Kent) Liam O (Kent)
Plaid Gelman (New York) Tim Redfern (Dublin)
Jimmy Edgar Ben Dawkins (London) Guing’art virus (Marseille)
Home Video Kineticult (Sutton Coalfield) Mr McElwaine (New York)
Warp and Creative review would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. The standard of work was incredibly high. The winners films are due to be finished at the end of March when they will be featured on this site.
Two years ago, Warp Records and Creative Review Magazine joined forces to offer readers a unique opportunity: ten young filmmakers got the chance to create a piece of motion graphics for an unreleased Warp track. The winners included Pleix, Geoff McFetridge, Ed Holdsworth and Lynn Fox who have all since gone on to establish directing careers.
Ben, I can't wait to see what you've got.
Me too, I'm a big fan of his...two videos. Well, actually, I don't really like that bloc party one too much. It's just Okay. But that bogdan raczynski video is very very very great. I can't get most of the videos on his site to work, there's a new one too. Any suggestions, Lusky? Sorry.
Tss I feel bitter. Why do they make a competition if they give the videos to people they already know or are in the inner circle of their network? Do you think Guing’art virus (Marseille) are VJ? (lol). Bah anyway friendship doesn't make good vid, look at warp dvd compilation 80% of it suck. I wonder how much money they have to make those vids tough. none?
