Interpol- C'mere
Easily Interpol's best video. Though that's not really saying much, there are some pretty nice visuals, heh, eh.
Quicktime Which was ironically loading pretty slowly for me.
Email me I guess if you really really like it for some reason, because I have a semi-higher quality version of it (I think) that the crazy kids at the interpol forum cooked up.
hmmmm..... how could this win the "treatment" stage? At times it feels like that cirque de soleil eurocrap. The kids and the woman are so stupid. But.... the band's performance, the shack in the snowy woods, the wrapping and burning - all excellent. Just wish the narrative was better - this band is long overdue for an A-List director.
I've read interpol interviews where they say they put a lot of thought into which directors they pick for their videos and how they want them to look and everything, so I guess they just have really bad taste.
But in this video, the fire stuff really impressed me, and the preformance is pretty well shot and everything, I guess. Also the lady is pretty.
Chris Mill's PDA still remains my favorite
this one is much better than evil, thankfully
do interpol and bloc party have the same promo commissioner?
I love Interpol. I do not love their videos. I totally agree with captain, the kids and women are stupid. I also think their costumes are horrible and the whole concept in general seems amateur.
i feel it quite appropriate that my first comment on one of my favorite new (for me...) websites be for, perhaps, one of my favorite tracks 2004-05. unfortunately i cannot speak too positively for the video. The track has a certain nostalgia that i think the video tries to address with the wintery environment and the children, but unfortunately it misses the mark. would have loved to have seen a video working the title of the track into a theme. c'mere... come here. lovers coming together. young love. tough themes to work with visually and still have the video seem fresh and original (i.e. been done before), however, should Interpol finally collaborate with a director as fresh and stimulating as they are, the pieces will all come together... ps GREAT SITE
The woman/kids don't work in the same way that the fire doesn't. They become these highly conceptual pieces in the most normal landscape possible. This video looks like it was shot in someone's backyard. That forest is terrible.
You could tell they were going for some sort of strong production design but without fully executing it (think of how much more engaging this would've been if it was staged in a more LEGEND like fashion). So what we get is an uneven promo with some of the strangest CG components I've seen in a long time (their cape/hair) and just a boring, thoughtless concept coupled with poor execution.
boring.
So very dull. I agree it's very well shot.....but so what. It's a big, fat waste of money.
'Evil' is by far their best video (and the best track on that album). They should team up with Charlie White again on the next one and avoid this sort of rubbish at all costs.
Robo:
No actually, it wouldn't be better. I'm sorry people don't all think the same way you do. I guess it's a real problem...you know...with people having thier own opinions. Damn them all. I just hate to hear different perspectives.
This just in...you're not special.
It's ironic because you attack people you don't even know by saying they only know a band because it was "pushed by MTV" -inferring they are just followers of the mainstream....and then in the next sentence you attack them by saying they shouldn't post thier (differing) opinions. Do you see the problem? You...in liking this video...are the same as MTV. Everybody here was simply discussing thier personal reaction to a video. You, wasted your time discussing the people discussing the video. And now, I'm wasting my time discussing you.
you're right, jdub everyone is entitled to speak their minds. even you. that said, i think this video is beautiful. love the fire/cloth effects. i recommend the videos that floria sigusmundi and chris mills did for interpol's first album.
Fair enough. Sorry for being so blunt.
Nice to hear your comments. As for the posters on this site...you'll actually find that many of the people here are pretty savvy to film and of course music vids. They tend to be extra harsh on videos because since so many come through here, only the really great ones stand out. Of course it's subjective...but there's always a few that rise to the surface. Directors of videos big and small often stop in as well. It's kind of a nice film community that way.
Artsy fartsy..but don't get me wrong: I love the living hell out of this band. I really do. This video just sucks. I think Slow hands and Obstacle 1 were great and suited the bands minimalistic style but this one..get off!! You can do better.
