large QT version here... www.dragcity.com
I saw this video a few monthes ago, and it made me instantly love the song. That is pretty much what a music video is supposed to do.
For those who might wonder, Billy (Will Oldham) is the guy in orange at the end. He toured with Bjork a bit in 2003.
I wonder if Harmony Korine saw the Eurostar Ye Ye video or the French Kicks When You Heard You video I'm guessing not but it doesn't necessarily make this video more original.
clever, even subtle, and enjoyable the french kicks. shame it's only partial.
Why do people hate Harmony so much? Gummo and Julian Donkey-Boy are both amazing. Werner Herzog told Korine he was the last of the footsoldiers and I think he might be right. What other filmmakers his age are trying to do things as radical?
I thought this video great. I love that video scrubbing effect, especially when it makes the image look three dimensional. I felt hypnotized.
This reminded me of Crispin Glover's new movie What Is It? Maybe it was just the blackface...
Lusk your comments about Korine (and this video) have proven to me that you are a full on wanker. Especially when I think back to your trailer, I find it hard to believe you have the gumption to call Korine cheap. Although his films dont stick to some boring comformity of what a narrative film should be, they have soul and are entirly original and genuine. Frankly I found your trailer to be technically OK, but it was trying really hard to be something verses Korine's work which seems more automatic, like he had to make it.
Crispen Glover...Blackface?!
Crispin Hellion Glover www.crispinglover.com
just shit pretending to be ultra sensitive and being labeled so as art. Not saying he's not interesting but overrated because too mundane (or was).
If you thinks drugs are cool, look at what it make you do.
binkystick - I hope that was sarcasm.
Can't remember the promo where there was this effect of two frames flipped rapidly giving the impression of 3D. I think it was for david bowie. It mimicked the look and colors of 3D postcard. @small inc what's wrong about sarcasm about sarcasm?
I don't think Korine will ever be able to top Gummo (i think it's a masterpiece of sorts) but I'm still waiting for Fight Harm.
That sounds amazing.
So if his work is so unwatchable, why are we all so familiar with it? You just proved my point, you cant call him a shit bag, his work although "shocking" is relevant. What is be about? I think he sets out to capture moments in time, and he also seems obsessed with characters, real characters that he seeks out and puts in his films. (sorry for calling you a wanker) but you cant make sweeping statements like that, Korine is an extremely talented person, who dosn't give a fuck about convention.
What Noé has to say is very pale in comparaison with how he's saying it. julien donkey boy wasn't that bad but korine is too much a poser for me. Think about cassavetes: characters with energy and life. Conventions? Nan goldin is old now and shes shoots campaigns for ad agencies.
