why do bands go for these ideas? Band plays in forest? Boring.
Its not even a dig on the directors so much as it seems like alot of bands/labels whatever, seems to want to go with the most obvious ideas, they say they want something different but really they dont.
erm... coz the albums called... the woods... geddit? GEDDIT?! (dearie me...)

yeah - to compare the two videos....
the donnas are hotter the donnas have a better song sleater-kinney's film looks better sleater-kinney performs better
but both pale in comparison to the ultimate band in the woods video

who can't come up with a dozen ideas? ANYTHING is better than nothing. What bothered me is that it looked like a narrative was emerging (stalker in the woods, the truck) and then nothing.
But I agree, this band/label seems like they wouldn't want to do anything too weird (i.e. creative).
B-STICK: I totally understand and agree with your frustration. I worked at a record label and would see all these great directors come in with amazing ideas but watch it slowly get comprimised by the label managers to a watered down version that needed to have more performace and close ups. People rarely realise this happens so regularly. Most of the time narrative is viewed as too risky! But the sad cold reality is - the majority of people enjoy generic crap.
Sleater-Kinney disbanded :( one of my favorite bands are disbanded :( sad day :(
