Rabbit In Your Headlights
RABBIT IN YOUR HEADLIGHTS QT 25mgs by U.N.K.L.E. (DJ Shadow) with Thom Yorke (Radiohead) 1998 directed by Johnathan Glazer
The only version online I could find of this video was a whopping 50 meg mpg file so I crunched it down to a 25 meg mov file for everyone who had trouble downloading it. This video is superbly done and is a must see if you like cool music videos. wink
You, are a star.
This is the way music video should be. Group of artists who take risks. All hail Jonathon Glazier and U.N.K.L.E. I did find this link in my searches a few weeks back, it takes a while to load but it works. www.princeton.edu
Gotta love this video! It's just like a little Cortazar story, you know, you think you understand the logic of this warped reality that the author's created and right at the very end, he flips you around! Absolutely cool!
(FYI, U.N.K.L.E. is DJ Shadow and James Lavelle)
where is the 50 meg file? I want better quality! great video
u.n.k.l.e is not dj shadow.
the 2nd unkle album is not with DJ shadow however
thanks!!!
yes! u.n.k.l.e. is james lavelle no doubt! but that track came from his original collab with josh (dj shadow) before they split up ('psyence fiction' which featured thom (radiohead) for that track 'rabbit in your headlights'). josh is local and that's how i understood it. maybe it should say OG UNKLE. i credit dj shadow to distinguish it from unkle now.
"While Radiohead was in San Francisco for their OK Computer tour in 1997, Thom went in to the studio with DJ Shadow and co-wrote and recorded 'Rabbit in Your Headlights' for James Lavelle's UNKLE album, Psyence Fiction.
This recording is a collaboration between Thom Yorke [lyrics and vocals] , James Lavelle and DJ Shadow for the U.N.K.L.E. - project. Thom Yorke recorded his contribution before the success of OK Computer. Lavelle said: "I've always wanted to bring together the different types of music that I've grown up on, to intertwine them to create something that people my age can get into." The song, which was recorded in San Francisco. James Lavelle is also an established artist in his own right, remixing some of the finest records around including Radiohead's Planet Telex. In his capacity as a DJ, James played support on both the Verve and Radiohead's 1997 UK tours. Meanwhile his U.N.K.L.E collaborator DJ Shadow played a live set of his own tracks as the main support to Radiohead on the same tour.
The song is bone-chilling good and has an awesome video directed by Jonathan Glazer (Karma Police, Street Spirit).
This track is very... very eerie, but there's definitely something there. Something powerful. It's mainly piano driven, but lots of DJ type skillz I'm sure have gone into it too. There are 6 mixes available on the UK single."
here's the link to the 50 meg file:
The guy in the passenger seat of the car that pulls alongside is James lavelle, founder of Mo wax records and founder of UNKLE
N E 1 still have a copy of this? all the ones on stage6 are low res; thanx
The 50meg file was low res as well.
