Wolfmother "Woman" dir. Alex & Martin
This MOV appears to be the offline edit director's cut. The actual vid has crumpled-paper effects (a la Twist/Hot Hot Heat) and a lot less woman.
Here's what made it to air: AOL - 30sec: windows - real
I love Led Zeppelin!
This video plays better with the paper gimmick. That trick is becoming increasingly tired now, here's a Leaves video with exactly the same concept. I do like the song though, although I can't help thinking that Wolfmother going to be for Led Zeppelin what Jet was for The Rolling Stones. Also the girls dancing felt pretty lame, no one in their right mind dances to rock music like that any more (it also reminded me of the equally lame dancing in Jet's "Are you going to be my girl" video).
Wah!?
I thought Alex and Martin were making a joke in that Bran van 3000 clip but by the looks of this they are still in performance mode. Whats going on?
Ah but I disagree, Alex and Martin made plenty of fine videos prior to Seven nation army including one of my all time faves "Sound of Violence" for Cassius. I think things got a little sketchy when they started doing U2 and Kylie. Probably not their fault as their sensibilities probably don’t gell well with big labels ideas for big artists images. But I have to say this video is kinda crap as it stands, it looks like it has potential and was part of a larger plan but doesn’t fulfil. Someone give those two a decent budget for an "out of left field" artist and let them get back to what they do best. That or give them funding for a feature if they are bored and want more.
Sad they didn't go with this version. The look and feel of this clip more aptly captures the 70's meets the 00's feel of the band, without resorting to hammy gimmick. I think the more straight up performace aspect comes through better, which also hints at what kind of live show you could expect from them. I like the go-go dancer feel of the intercut scenes.
Damn, but those Australian boys bring the rock.
Kev, a mov made it to AOL. Also an flv. En plus a making of. Would be awesome if you could make the director's cut available again.
