?????????
Ok Sorry to do this and I don’t want to set a precedent so delete me if this is out of line. However this has been driving me crazy, can ANYONE tell me who this video is for and where to get a copy.? Came out about 3-4 years ago been searching for it since then, lovely low key electronic track, clip consisted of girl sitting on Victorian style chair on 2001 floor as pink mechanic octopus type creature unfolds from piano infront of her. Thank you Screen grab from the RSA website opener
The video is for 'Hayling' by FC Kahuna. It is directed by Johnny Hardstaff.
It is actually an alternative video to the one usually shown on... Um... VH1... MTV2.. Wherever it is they show music videos nowadays. The more mainstream video is pretty decent, featuring underwater floating abstractions. But it's not as breathtaking as Johnny Hardstaff's mecha-organic piano. It took me a while to hunt this version down, and I found it in the most unlikely place: As a bonus feature on the DVD for the movie, 'Confidence'. A really underwhelming movie, but one worth owning on DVD just so you can have a copy of this amazing video.
I guess that's the path to take if you're a tad obsessive. If not, you can find the full quicktime version here:
Cracker! Thanks mate, been after that for a while. Not as amazing as I remember but still a very nice peice of work.
remember that "like spinning plates" radiohead music video? you'll even see the crown symbol in both videos.
"underwater floating abstractions" = The debut of LYNNFOX, courtesy of HASSINATOR:
Riiiiight So the Lynnfox version became the more official version and this faded into obscurity. Hmmm......not sure how I feel about that. I mean the first time I saw the Bjork "nature is Ancient Video" I got a bit excited cus it looked pretty rad. But when I rewatched it it wasn’t as interesting, now I see their version of Hayling and..... hmm more floaty nonsensical underwater stuff, and what’s this Bjork "Oceania" video on their website...yet more...pretty...floaty.... vague…underwater stuff... ...can I go now?
Johnny Hardstaff kicks my fucking ass.
"The Future of Music" is fantastic. This used to be on his site, which is now closed up and secretive as he's apparently working on other projects like a movie or something.
this vid drove me crazy once too. erm no: this video made me crazy too. once. i don't know. loved this too but would never had known how to find it. thx for searching and finding it.
the original version was done by Lynn Fox for £5k on homemade PCs - it was their first video; it never got a full release but it did find favour with Bjork.
City Rockers - the label - did a deal with Ministry of Sound and decided they wanted a performance video featuring the lovely Hafdis instread of 'abstract romantic animation'.
Jonny Hafdis came up with this amazing idea and off we went.
for Push/Pulk, it was so disappointing that Capitol never serviced that one here (USA). They were mulling it over, but I don't blame them for not spending $ since no one would play it but a couple shows/networks. Awesome vid.
