Tool - Parabola (Dir: Adam Jones)
youtube: youtube.com
Until Tool release a new video for thier new album i decided to post my fav one from them. enjoy.
Have you heard anything about the new video? Is Adam Jones once again going to direct it?
i have no clue. its probebly going to be adam jones since he did all of thier video, im also guessing that it will take a little while since they seem be to long to make.
but like i said i have no clue.
They are also on tour until August. So it seems like it would be difficult to make a video while on tour. Maybe not...
this was posted on an australian music website on 03/02/2006:
Tool have a new album due early May but before that arrives - we'll be getting the band themselves! Well, most of them anyway when all members except for guitarist Adam Jones are out on a promo tour. It starts in Europe later this month, passes through Japan and then ends here in a few weeks.
Adam's staying back in Los Angeles to make a new video for the band - which means live shows are off the cards. But there will be assorted promotional type events and maybe even a sneak peak of some of the new music.
Bingo...
i worked on this video. one cool thing about the stop motion puppet was that it was designed digitally with lightwave, then output to wax, then a mold was made and armutres were put in. a very cool process that i don't think many people have done.
Yeah my friend at Gentle Giant told me about that. I guess they did that.
yeah, gentle giant did the wax output. chet zar, chetzar.com, designed the puppet and most of the make-ups. he is a fucking wizard with that stuff. kevin willis produces all their videos and he is rarely mentioned but definitely plays a huge part in the finished product. i think his website is kevinwillis.biz
I've always been a big fan of Tool and thought that much like Beck, Bjork and Radiohead they have managed to geniusly cultivated their own unique sound, culture and art. The fact that Adam Jones has mainly been mostly responsible for their artwork is insane. How talented does one person get. I have the DVD set of their videos which is a definite recommend but I've never seen this video before so thanks for the find. Anyone have a QT of it.
Am I insane or is that Tricky in the video? Sort of strange how the end resolves to be so much like the album packaging but amazing nonetheless.
It is Tricky... I love the Alex Grey ending. Im hoping that the new video will be more Alex Grey-ish.
that's tricky alright.
most of their artwork has been done by either chet zar, cam deleon, or alex. personally i think chet has really defined their look but that's just me.
i was searching for a quicktime version too but i haven't gotten any luck. i did find a realplayer version over stupnik7.com
also, thanks for the inside petcor80.
A dead intro in excess of a minute (title credits?!) before a sub-Pink Floyd prog rock number - although my favourite bit of an engaging video. Then the 'song' goes into a second, generically nu-metal section and we effectively get another video, again interesting, although by now I couldn't watch without thinking 'Stephane Sedanoui'...
