STATISTICS - "By(E) Now" (Ben Piety)
This video isn't my best (but I still like the tone and mood). It was something we did with an HD camera lying around from a previous shoot. I also didn't have big enough lights, but thems-the-ways. We are preparing to film a new video in a few weeks using some of these same techniques.
PLEASE NOTE - this is an unofficial video.
a couple of good ideas, but really still quite embrionic.
i don't understand why you'd shoot the people moving in slow-mo, and keep the drops/glasses at normal. also, the sideways shot which relates the two elements in a kind of altar/worshipper relationship is interesting, but comes way too late: the collection of front-on's is awkward and uninspiring (also: they'd have been prettier with only one light left on, like the end part of the last shot).
nice choice of track.
I agree that the relationship between the people and the glasses developed late. I thought thats what it was at first, until more people started appearing, so I thought they were dancing at eachother... And on the dancing, I'm glad you left it in slow-mo because people dancing regular speed look silly, and they'd look extra silly being solo, male and surrounded by black. Overall I don't understand the video, but I do like the techniques and I'm sure the new video you're shooting will be interesting. Be sure to post it.
