This awards show was super cool and fun, but I can't help but think that they missed out on recognizing a lot of great work. Not sure if it's an under vs. over-ground thing or what. I mean, how many awards does anything involved with Audioslave deserve?
where's the fucking jump?
Joseph Kahn's Jamiroquai video sucked.
Scott Speer's Switchfoot video is a Portishead "Only You" rip-off and overall just not very good.
I think Cat Solen was very deserving... and good props for Chris Milk's Audioslave video.
One thing to keep in mind is a lot of directors aren't submitted by their companies ... thus no Martin de Thurah (who could/should have won best new director).
Nine Inch Nails "Only"
Best animated? Bah... ^^
Thats true Marc. Lots of companies didnt submit because of costs.
It as a geat event though. Floria looked stunning! ;)
And the free drinks at the HSI party made my day!
I totally agree with captainmarc22 on Martin de Thurah
ones i really agree with: doesn't remind me, technologic, girl. th'others... mlah.
so, who's going to trawl for unposted-as-of-yet links...?
When Gondry accepted the award for "Heard em Say" He mentioned Kanye not liking the video.
These awards are primarily for american commissioned videos, with the exception of the international category. Since Martin de Thurah hasn't really done anything in the US (is he even repped in the US?) i doubt he would really be considered. He is however nominated for "best new director" at the CADS, which is the UK equivalent of the MVPA awards.
