congratulations to finnland for the first winning of the eurovision songcontest: halleluja!

This is some sort of European-wide 'Pop Idol'-type thing? Is this some huge European phenomenon Americans have no idea about?

kev - yeah, this is the biggest television-event in europe, 37 countries are sending a song, most of them were already phone-voted in their countries, everyone has 3minutes and has to sing live. then people in all of the countries vote by phoning & sms (not allowed to vote for the own song), and it became famous for the difficult vote-system 1-7, 8, 10 and 12 points from every country are added, which mostly takes ages. this years contest was won by these finnish monsters, which was a kind of european music-scandal. very funny. this is the website of the contest: www.eurovision.tv

my advice to watch the worst: Switzerland, Macedonia, Sweden I forgot that in my eplanation: people love it cause it's four hours of unbelieveable bad music.
