music videos based on cars?
Can anyone think of some good music vids based around cars? Gondrys kings of Leon vid is a good example
Thanks Antvillers
gondry hasnt' done a KoL video??
Hehe are you doing a story on the Pixar film or something?
Hip-hop vids are notorious car-bling showcases, of those there are too many to mention, though few if any have a concept that focuses solely on cars. Scarface's "It Ain't" (aka It Ain't Shit) is one nice example of that. Joseph Kahn seems to like cars a lot, he's done the CG-thru-engine thingy in Janet Jackson "Doesn't Really Matter" (also done by Dave Meyers in Aaliyah "More Than a Woman", that for a motorbike). Hype Williams has shot cars beautifully over the years.
Madonna "Beautiful Stranger" had the Jaguar + Mike Myers.
Lacquer "Behind" is the most car-in-a-vid I can think of.
Check a lot of the gangsta rap vids of the early 90's. That's where cars where much more blatantly used. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg.. a lot of cars in many of their vids. (Even "Drop it Like it's Hot" had some)
Are there any country vids, I wonder?
There's a car-drive-thru-desert genre: Norah Jones "Come Away With Me" is the most recent I can think of.
audioslave "show me how to live" - a must-see & kinda cool remake!
What about "City Of Tiny Lights" Frank Zappa, now there's a classic......
Babybird "The F-word" Luke Slater "All Exhale"
Jonathan Glazer's Karma Police for Radiohead (set in a car, but not really about one) or his Cosmic Girl for Jamiroquai which fetishizes sports cars. Sorry about You Tube links, they're just convenient.
How about Reuben Sutherland Phoenix Foundation?
Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Madonna's What It Feels Like For A Girl, it rocks. One Phat Diva's video for Bad Habit is a funny take on auto-eroticism. Stonebridge's Take Me Away starts w/ the sports car peeling out. Blu Cantrell's video for Breathe features her fine self in a car. Speaking of Madge the Bmw spot Guy Ritchie did w/ her is kinda priceless.
the scientist / coldplay / director: jamie thraves - well done video of an accident told backwards.
amon tobin verbal dir: alexander rutterford
The video for Queens of the Stoneage's Go with the flow is completely centrered around two cars racing towards each other on a desert road, and the Cardigans' My Favourite Game is as well come to think of it. Both brilliant videos too...
Don't forget any video by THE CARS.
Seriously, a total cliche. Cornhole I hope you're not working on a music video treatment centered around cars cause it's all been done before. I think it's cause a lot of directors cruise around town listening to the song trying to come up with ideas...
Alanis Morissette "Ironic"
