New Radicals "You Get What You Give" dir. Evan Bernard (1999)
One of the many reasons Evan Bernard deserves his own Directors Label DVD.
Happy Summer 2006!
One of the best videos ever. Just great energy and fun. I still love it. Thanks.
oh man i used to hate this song SO much. i guess i still do.
Sorry, but this is a 4 and a half minute charismectomy
8 coinage points to framesco: "charismectomy"!
To each his own, but I'd call Catch My Disease a better example of charismectomy (and budgetectomy). Song more than vid.
Gee, I'm glad they liberated those dogs who were, after all, seeking adoption and a home and managed to corner those consumer capitalist caricatures with their army of super expensive scooters. Loathsomely unconscious in every way - capped off with a copyright from MCA records.
That was all kinds of terrible...
Why do we have to ressurect the frigging New Radicals.? that bloody song ran on a car ad for about a year straight and became an anthema for everything it was purportedly meant to represent in the first place. And now I have a head full of bad memories of this garbage feel good video bubbling over with heady, misguided, well-lit, tightly choreographed, treacle sweet youthful enthusiasm. AND PULL YOUR FUCKING HAT UP OVER YOUR EYES MATE, ARRRRGHHH I STILL HATE THAT CUNT!!!
lol - there goes the rest of my credibility. Perhaps I shoulda gone with DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince's "Summertime" instead? The Breeders "Saints"? David Lee Roth "California Girls" (remember?)
On the contrary. Anyone prepared to do something so entirely anodyne but then call themselves the New Radicals patently has a highly developed sense of irony.
It's not irony, it's just shamelessness. Irony includes some kind of critique, an escape hatch from the drek you descend into. No such escape hatch exists here.
