"The W.A.N.D."
Dir: Bradley Beesley
Anybuddy got this in something other than quicktime? -j
Anybody see the Sony Bravia commercial? Yeah, this video ripped that commercial off big time. Bouncy balls as colourful, exuberant art has been done, Bradley. And now it sort of makes the Lips look desperate for quirkiness at ALL COSTS (even originality). And please tell me the women were for irony, not sex appeal. Very dissapointing after Traktor's video.
Wonder what the blurred out object is laying on the bed. Could it be a "wand".
I second the call for an alternative format, please...
Talking of seconding, I agree there does seem to be a vogue for bouncy balls in music shorts at the moment.
Yeah, rehash on the balls. Still works though. And this is a different context so I don't mind it. Helps that I like the song too I guess. As for the girls, there's usually chicks in the lips art direction. They're like KISS, but more Playschool. -j
This is a rehash of a rehash of a boring idea. Fair try. Good song, though.
Actually, Sony Bravia Commercial ripped off from a well known canadian artist named Lucy Pullen www.iamthevariable.com but then again who knows and who cares and the video is boring so there.
interesting, tion. not to open the art vs commercials debate again, but someone somewhere (shortsville?) should keep tabs on this stuff - as fischli&weiss were to honda's cog, and this to bravia, seems a lot of the stronger ideas are being poached from the art circuit.
it's kinda shitty for unknown artists sometime. their great ideas being copy quite often without reward. the mainstream seem to accept something more posh and presentable or present it by someone more recognisable. but yeah, it's a classic case and it just too much to get into sometime.
