Summerbirds in the Cellar "Trains" : Dir. Mike Goubeaux
Why would scion want anyone to comment upon the work? It might ruin their self congratulatory image.
So was becoming a cartoon a good or bad thing?
This video is seriously amazing and this type of video is a complete rarity for the genre. It pulled off a lot of amazing effects while at the same time not being the least bit flashy or attention whoring. The video has a story with characters and a climax that is for lack of a better word, moving, and it did so in this sort of mysterious way. I have watched this a number of times and it still sends chills up my spine in the end. The director of this video has tremendous talent as a filmmaker, not just as a music video maker, and I'm sure he will go on to do amazing things.
the other two videos didn't have as much going on it as this one (albeit the eye candy)... glad to see this one win.
The thing that works for this and the Aha video is the narrative. Not so strong in this one, but the playfulness wins me over. The zero7 video seems to have reduced rotoscoping to an After Effects filter: its pure eye candy. Much more enjoyble to see it in a Linklater film though (the style seemed familiar.....)
