And is it me or has Hype Williams' recent work felt like after effects tutorials? I used to be so psyched seeing his early work (Missy, Biggie, Busta, etc) - and now...well....I'm wondering if the intern worked on it.

         

antville continues to be a geekometer when it comes to videos, everyone rally up behind one more stop motion indy rock snooze fest. Hype is demi god, and this video is hot to death and a great follow up to his also amazing Gold Digger. He's back!

         

I think given Hype's ouevre (dork alert!), I'd give both vids a B-. They've got some nice looks to them, a bit of visual adventure. They transcend other rap vids, but they don't feel complete as vids.

"Drive Slow" feels like a sequel to Hype's drive-car-in-city vids (Mase, Nas/Lauryn Hill), which I think is cool.

Kanye tries too hard, the poor fella. I feel for him.

         

shut up: Where has he been when he's back? And: What the hell is hot in this video? - the fact that there is not even one idea that we haven't seen in thousands other hip-hop videos such as big flats with nice girls in it? - I know that there are genres but a genre is as good as it's tiny idea in it which gets it a bit somewhere else (- might not be good english (?) but I think it is understandable (?))

         

kev: you're right (if I got you right, where is my english today? lost in soccer?): Kanye tries so hard to be cool but there is nothing uncooler then trying to be cool.
