The director is Jonnie Ross: smugglersite.com The "poor guy" is Josh Fadem: joshfadem,com. I believe it was made for some sort of Panasonic short film contest type thingamajig.

As winch notes, this is actually a short called 'The Power is On', on RES DVD Vol 9. No. 2. Great on the TV. Brilliant (but way too short!) update on the rigged-to-the-camera concept.
Does anyone know how they did this? Did they just rotoscope out the rigging attaching the stereo to the camera, or is it cleverer than that?
look closely at that inch under the yellow soundbox (you can see the scoping especially well in the last scene). there's also one scene where you've got the shadow of the whole rig on him.
Yup. Traktor calls this technique 'the stick trick'. One of the RESDVD's has the making of 'Ya Mama' (Push the Tempo) on it and it is funnier than the video itself. You can check out the original at www.traktor.com. They used the same technique in a Miller Lite commercial too.
It's such an awesome/super-genius concept, that ripping it off like this can be excused.
