"PATTY GRIFFIN" Every Little Bit Dir: Nick Small
This is what happens when you don't stand up to the record company (A&M) strongly enough. The Bolex stuff, I really like, but Patty was made to look like Bonny Rait by hair and make-up for the mid-shots. I should have sent her back to the caravan, but I didn't. Part of the treatment was for Patty to be at street level on a cherry picker...lifted up slowly and panned around with the LA skyline behind. This proved to be quite difficult...and of course, we ended up shooting some plates from the hoist, and getting a safety take of Patty in front of geen screen. Inevitably that's what was used. Not my finest hour, but looking back, she is so good, that I can't help liking it. If you don't know Patty's work, do check her out...especially the Living With Ghosts album. It is outstanding.

patty griffin on antville. love it! thanks for sharing the clip.
damn. i appreciate the candor.
Glad to see Patty G fans. This clip is pretty rare as the single was pulled. As for candour, well, we can't get things right all of the time...in fact, I can only think of one of my videos that I wouldn't change at all if I could spin the clock back.
