Ennio Morricone - The Ecstasy of Gold (dir. Sergio Leone)
Allow me to go a little off-topic and repeat myself, posting one of the most astonishing scenes in the history of cinema. It could easily be regarded as an avant-garde music video... :)
And here's the same piece performed live in Berlin, 2005.
errr, it's a scene from a film. Not even close to a music video. Nice try. I could post a thousand of these kind of links. Stick with the programme. I come to antville to watch music videos. If I want movies I would go to a video store.
I'm confused too, dek. I guess I have to really see this film?? (You didn't even mention it: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly)
DEK: A mutherfuckin plus. I say this post is a nice change of pace. I don't know if this scene could overtake the shootout to come. That 3 way battle and eventual line ("there are two kinds of people in the world...") is something more than astonishing.
If you haven't seen this KEV, please do. Some of the best genre work of all time. Speaking of which, I also saw one of the weirdest gay themed films, TROPICAL MALADY - a big cannes winner. It's a masterpiece of sorts, but man is it something else. I recommend.
Sorry scooper, I came with some MV but all were posted before. Anyway, I'll love to see MV close to this one.
Kev: All movies by Sergio Leone are masterpieces to my eyes, so I guess I'm not the right person to tell. But yes, you should.
lusk: I'll search for the thai movie.
I agree Sergio Leone has a proto music video style.
Interestlingly enough on 'Once Upon A Time In The West' Segio Leone wrote the score of the movie with Ennio Morricone before they shot. Then he would play the music on set as the shot the accompanying scene. Look at the new Kasabian video it's not a million miles away.
I'll try, but 99% of the times with those quicktime streams I get 1 frame still every 5 seconds...
FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Both of em. Thank you.
