hating on waverly?
i'm not much of a poster, more of a reader- but why does everyone knock waverly films? some of their stuff is better than others, sure, but after reading thru recent & classic threads there are some pretty brutal comments. just curious as to why
also, how many of you antvilleans are filmmakers and how many are solely critics?

Jon Watts is one of the best music video directors working now, in my opinion.
Waverly got into that highly prized niche where they get the coolest bands and get to do seemingly whatever they want (like, the opposite of Marc Webb). Patrick Daughters is there too.
Because of that, they're held to really high standards, which is why people are more critical.

yeah i'm a filmmaker- junior in college, just transferred to nyu and my teach recently played some waverly/watts films from their college years. no one in the class was familiar with their work, which i thought was unfortunate.

hey i write treatments for waverly videos and let me just tell you - it isn't so easy. we are in no "highly prized niche".

yeah man, they wouldn't even let us WRITE on the new Bob Seger track. And I know all the words to Night Moves, too.
Who's hating on Waverly? They're badasses. On the Blood of Abraham video alone they should have a prized place is video history.
I make videos, when i comment i try to explain why i dislike or like the peice. I disregaurd people who just say "this sucks" or "Genius" unless they can recognize why they like something.

Funny, that one is going to be part of a UK release disc, Hopefully coming out in the next 6 weeks, a bit late to keep something on the charts, but from my view it was made for a primarly web based audiance anyway... mostly antville. The last one i did was for Adam Green, its relased in Germany but was voted off TRL in 2 weeks =(.. it was the most rushed video i have ever done, it was supposed to be turned over in 6 days, with a pretty limited budget. Its ended up taking 9 and took some serious sacrifices, but none the less i am proud to make anything happen in 9 days, it has a twin video sperated at birth.
