Beyonce - Ring The Alarm (Dir. Sophie Muller)
Solid pop promo. Great energy throughout.
dir Sophie Muller - will probably be online at beyonceonline.com, factoryfilms.net, or oilfactory.com soon. At Yahoo currently - all better than the tub. I'm waiting to see this on TV..
Thanks Kev, I'll keep my eye out for the QT. I also can't wait to see this on TV. Between this and 'Sexyback', it's interesting to see the biggest pop stars in the U.S. trying things that might initially turn off their respective core fan bases.
cool.
Is it just me or am I picking up a serious Basic Instinct vibe off of that interrogation room scene. That's kind of a strange reference point for a Beyonce video.
How does she do it? I mean more costume changes than Kate Moss (not that she's that overdressed anyways) and all in a tiny police interview room, which seems double up as a press conference centre
Oh well I guess anything is better than her last outing wiv Jay Z and the diabolical choreography of the faux afro dance it showcased
Still a good up-tempo tune, even if sadly it only shares the title ov Tenor Saw's classic
This kind of music is dead. This kind of musicvideo is dead. This is so dead.
Spreech, What kind of video is this? What kind of music video is this?
Sophie did crazy a lot better a long time ago.
spit --- I guess this is a good question, it's probably not so much any kind of anything, it is just: I don't like this. But, mh: NO!!! - this kind of female softpornopopsoul is soooo boring and so selfrepeating. It is burocratic quality pop, but quality was never a quality of pop and it will never be.
I'm warming up to this. Not the song, really, but the video. The last 15 seconds are utter perfection, and recall Sophie's best work - she's always been fantastic at this sort of pathological, abstract tension. I wish Sophie had drawn on that for the entire vid.
The apartment scenes with the ocean in the background are another very strong highlight, but the rest of the vid requires an object. Why is Beyonce just yelling, with all this attention on her? The lyrics + music don't provide a solid counterpoint.
never been in her fanbase much, but this has serious energy. video's tight to a t. qt yet? (and what was that other one, k? link's been offed.)
