Muse - Starlight Dir: Paul Minor
one of those videos where the concept really has nothing to do with the song (which is fine) until they reach that one oh-so-literal line "this ship is taking me far away..."
I'm guessing they wanted to do a performance video after the high-concept knights of cydonia... but this just felt sparse.... aren't there a million things to shoot on a boat? i mean besides the same helicopter shot?
i've heard a lot of people say Muse is one of the best live bands around... you wouldn't really guess that from seeing this.
Completely agree. This aims to be a 'big' video but falls very, very short. Muse are indeed one of the best live bands around and this sells them up the river...
Starts off nice and simple... then I'm expecting something else... and I end up getting the pissy version of Romanek's Audioslave 'Cochise' See: www.youtube.com
I'm sure Romanek had twice the budget, but the difference isn't in how many fireworks you can set off, but in how much the lack of balls, energy and imagination of this video exposes Muse as three little boys from rural Devon, in the big world of rock and roll...
A real shame.
Yeah, very disappointing. Matt hardly moves at all from that one spot in the entire video.
This youtube version is actually the label cut. The director's cut is significantly different:
