i remember seeing this on MTV in 1997!! So fucking weird then, a bit more accessible now.

When I say weird, I mean unique without being a surreal/fantasy/sci-fi video. All about playing down the expectations of a video.

Other videos that had a similar effect on me:

Spike Jonze's Chemical Bros. Electroshock (didn't you think this would end with some wacky twist?)

Jonathan Glazer's Richard Ashcroft video. (the way they paused the audio was so cool).

         

Joking robo, really. In all honesty this is a very homoerotic video - even with, or maybe because of, Hafdis. I guess I like underwater trysts.

Wud'da replied much earlier to the post as this clip put me in mind ov a Euro-dance vid out 'round the same time! So I scoured the net for it

Storyline - a Private eye trax's a cool blond who seems to leave a trail ov blokes bodies in her wake, n' is finally cornered in a swimming pool wiv the last victim floating around, dead as a doornail It is implied she can change her form to that ov a 'murderous' lizard'

Woz sure it woz by Mauro Picotto but might have confused it wiv his 'Iguana' coz the tunes are similar I also thought it's title woz SOS (Save Our Souls)- but I jus turn up the Rihanna title n' it'll take days to plough tru mi Viva VHS's to get a fix on it's ID, so I can't be bothered! Over n' out!

It's a bit rough around the edges and asks a bit too much of the audience but I like the quirks enough. Plus, for me swimming caps = New Order True Faith

         

the color saturation is very nice.

         

Wow...never seen this before. Really bold to go with such an odd narrative which is shaped so much by the things that don't happen. Strange is good!
