ANTVILLETUBE
Since the ville has become a big fan of the utube, I'm curious if anyone knows how to turn an flv (ripped from utube via keepvid) into a quicktime...?
Look at MediaCoder -- mediacoder.sourceforge.net
on a mac, as mentioned in videoville web tips, isquint does a great job on almost all flv's (also works wonders on quite a few wmv's and flip4mac mov's) - plus it's free. (visualhub is their pro app.)
pc? i've heard good things about SUPER ©
yeah safari flv "save as" and iqsuint work great for me. Odd to fill up an ipod w/ youtube videos but how else you gonna find some of those?
Now- does anyone know how to rip copy protected quicktimes? For example, AOL music has a copy protection that make it so you can't compress the files in isquint; specifically the audio can't be read.
sample link, cap?
I've used ffmpegX. homepage.mac.com Video setting to MPG4 (mencoder). I still have to add the audio in later. AOL has changed how it codes the site. I can't find away to get the quicktime files now. Any luck?
isquint
it works great (i'm on a mac)
On the PC side, the best combination is the VideoDownload Firefox Plugin (which works with a variety of online content sites) and CinemaForge, which seems to return the best QT results I've seen.
Snapz Pro X can record movies and audio right off the screen as they play. it makes a large file which you then have to compress using a codec like H.264 to get to a decent file size. kind of a pain but works.
I use SUPER © all the time. Flawless and simple. Drag and drop a bunch of stuff...and voila!!! It also converts practically every format. I keep my wife happy with it...let the jokes rain on down!
The new version of Super(C) also have presets for Sony PSP and... what's the name... the Apple thing, y'know? Anyway, 99% of these sw are based on free software like FFMpeg, X.264 and others. Learning to master them would give the Best results. Doom9 is a good resource.
