The Raconteurs "Steady, As She Goes" (version two) dir. The Malloys
A bit late, but still worth a post..
I thought the carrying instruments in the cockpits was an unnecessary detail given the shape of the karts. Otherwise fine, kept me watching. You'd want it to be more than 'fine' though, wouldn't you?
the raconteurs and the malloys are managed by the same people- its a fix- as was the race in the video- overall it was a let down- too many ideas for a 2 min song.

I think I'm probably the only person who liked the first Jarmusch video. It was a straightforward rock video for a straightforward rock song. Plus I like cows. Just my opinion, but band looks like a bunch of geeks in version. -j
i think the band suffer from too many chiefs and not enough native americans
everyone has to have to have their say so ideas and edits seem to be decided by some process of political deal making relating to shared screen time and indulging every whim
sophie muller has just shot the new one which should maybe help bring things into focus - the best videos are NEVER done by committee
i didn't like the jarmusch video and i don't think feature directors generally get it right with music videos - obvious exceptions being features directors who cut their teeth in video or are just straight ahead geniuses
i thought it looked murky (in a bad way) and didn't really say or do anything other than feature the band and for a directors of that stature with a budget it just wasn't enough
great band, great music but the great video seems to have eluded them so far

ramon's was. (great, i thought.)
I agree, this isn't drop-dead great, but it's pretty good. Indeed, I'd like to see Sophie's take.
well. I happen to know that Floria Sigismondi recently shot with the raconteurs in NYC with Aaron Phillips same DP as in Ramon's vid which was definitely excellent.
don't know about Sophie Mullers, I guess if that ever got through the camera then we're in for some beauty shots and Beyonce butt shake ala Jack White... Na Cin?
