Finished watching series 1 of Twin Peaks only last week - so the images and the music roughly work together. I'd imagine that they wouldn't for the uninitiated. Either way the beautifully shot title sequence (the extended one, for the pilot) is the best 'video' for this song.
I wonder if Badalamenti adapted it for Julie Cruise, or if she just borrowed it..?
