DJ Shadow "Enuff ft. Q-tip" Dir. Rojo
A decent video that's getting heavy play on MTVu right now. MOV
are those CGI cardboard boxes? Michel Gondry must be rolling in his grave.
and I know I had seen that Boxman somewhere....
all jokes aside i thought that was pretty good for what's supposed to be a mainstream rap video. Leaps and bounds better than the last one.
the cgi boxes and stencil stuff made this feel cheaper than it should have.
what were gondry's boxes again? alex and liane's came to mind, too...
Gondry used cardboard in Science of Sleep (and, technically, Kanye West). Spike used one for MC 900 Ft. Jesus, which was recently ripped off.. RESDVD recently had a short which had replicating boxes in it, I believe..
Agree with both of you
I like it. One of test hiphop videos I've seen for a while. In a similar vein to Lady Sov... But without the luxury of having Shadow/Lateef/Qtip there on the day. Having said that, considering the artists obviously couldn't get involved for scheduling or budgetary reasons... this is one of the best recent solutions to that label dilema 'we want him in it, but he isn't available/cant be arsed etc.'
I like the various uses of foam and the dancing boxman. The CG is half-baked, though I assume there was no time or money. Not bad overall, but not enough to overcome the not liking the song.
The Box short mentioned above is by Toronto animation house Nakd. Well done, but, well, then what? www.theebelinggroup.com
Bunch of CG boxes - lame lame lame.
i didn't watch this video but here's some other cardboard thing
The box man / white-foam-ball man was amusing and the Julian Opie style portraits always look good. Shame the cgi work was so obvious, but it kept me entertained.
Oh and I think the Mint Royale 'Singing in the rain' remix had a cardboard dancer too.
