i always thought the slick look and SUPER FANCY graphics kind of ruined this. It's a newscast, it should be shot on video with corny graphics. There's a ton of funny material to be mined from local newscasts w/o CGI rainfall. WWSJD?
Isn't the point of the video that it's a kind of comment on the SUPER FANCY graphics of 24 hour news coverage?
Fox News / CNN gfx don't look like that. It's like the gfx guys they hired thought they could do better instead of mimicking an established look.
to me it's more like a purposeful exaggeration of the swishy news graphics, which makes REM's newsroom seem particulary vacuous and slick. It's like a charicature of modern news. Whatever - I really like this video anyway.
its a video by a talented animator shoting a largerly live action script - the graphics probably should be more basic but then why would the band buy into the script?
