Faithless "Bombs" dir. Howard Greenhalgh
Re: qatsi
The most inept '6th former' visual imagery I've ever seen, cobbled together in an irony free teenager's notion of profound commentary. It's about as sophisticated as using a biro to draw a Hitler 'tache onto a newspaper clipping of George W. Bush. Faithless may be weed smoking poseurs but they should be thoroughly embarrassed of this.
And the post work looks like it was knocked off during a Flame Op's lunch break.
Propaganda of course but has its fascinating moments like every propaganda. Some visuals were terrible though like the classroom.
Mixed although I thought the majority of the assemblies worked and were well produced.
It doesn't work with the track. The use of slo-mo seems to be in order to increase the impact of the explosions/the surprises but I found it all a bit saggy, and it wasn't cut with the track to best effect.
concept coulda been, but wrong direction and shoddy post.
apparently just been 'banned' by mtv europe due to content
im guessing it must be the guns but that didn't seem to matter with will smith's opus "wild wild west"
if you spend lots of money on the video product placement doesn't seem to be an issue either - see all missy elliot and her 'love' of adidas
I thought this was quite a bold video. I love the juxopositions, reminscent of Banksy, Ad Busters or John Yates. I don't think all the vignettes were effective and the efx were janky at parts but the spirit was there.
i think you guys are being too hard on this video. i think it takes a risk, and i applaud it for that. sure the post works in some scenes and not in others, but thats to be expected when working with some stock footage. it's rare to spend the money making a video that will likely not get beyond the internet because of political images. kudos from my neck of the woods.
