The camera rotates around the band, and the members stare pensively at a broken tv. I don't get it. What was the firefly at the beginning?

i found it lacking as well. sure, the production design looked good, but its just people staring into the camera. maybe i missed something? for what it's worth, it's well shot, but didn't go anywhere.
