Parodies, More Parodies, and Even More Parodies
A couple of weeks ago, I saw an article in Entertainment Weekly about videos that parodied hit music videos. They featured and graded three parodies, which were White & Nerdy by Wierd Al Yankovic, which parodies Chamillionare's Ridin' Dirty, Paxilback by The Gray Kid and Daniel Stessen, which parodies Sexyback by Justin Timberlake, and the Ring the Alarm parody by Greg Scarnici, which the parodies the song by Beyonce. I thought they would make a good post.

Here are some other parodies made by Greg Scarnici:

erm... pizza: is u2b really not big enough a playground?
I liked the Madonna one best. Prince one was nice, needed some work though. Telling that the JT parody doesn't really parody the original video itself. You know your video is notable when ppl make fun of its treatment.
parody is an easier concept to sell to a label these days and it doesn't necessarily have to be funny
if you have a short tunraound and also need a concept that can be quickly grasped by international licensees then referencing a classic is a great way of building an instant consensus
at ministry of sound pretty much the entire history of dance videos is turned over ever time we do a video and sometimes this can be truly brilliant - look at the beatfreakz midget michael jackson for their thriller pisstake
but sometimes its just shit

Yes I liked the Madonna one too I've neva watched the original Weird Al or Prince ones so I can't comment!
hey hass, isn't Blimps latest vid a parody of the Daft Punk 'Round The World' classic? Be great to see that here too...
