Decemberists "O Valencia" - dir. Aaron Stewart-Ahn

The story behind this video... Is really long. The version that was floating around was an edit done expressly for MTV that I didn't like. We always had plans to release this, and right when this thing's long journey was about to be finished, Capitol Records goes under.
Thats just great. A little throwing in the kitchen sink at the end, but it never stops working. I particularly enjoyed the gussied up chainsaw.
Aaron, I'm with you in experimenting with a longer form for the web, but I dont think the narrative is working. I have not seen the MTV cut but I would almost rather see this without the head and tail.
some great moments - nice feel in the framing. The overall tone is a little unclear though.
WOW. great work. a bit too much violence for my taste. I am also with you to integrate a musik into a movie like film. but I prefer a kind of talking in the video like spike jonze did for daft punk / da funk. here you have dialogue - music video - dialogue. its not mixed at all. the rhythem doesnt seem right to me. I loved location, cast, photographie. overall amazing work.
If the budget was indeed meager it certainly doesn't look it, congrats. (although I still have a soft spot for this version) :)
