Dynah - Promise (Dir: Jeff Ray):

A video I did for a local Austin band. Shot on the HVX200, I served as Director/DP/Editor. Budget was under $1000 dollars.

a few too many filters & clichés. nicely shot, tho.
sometimes less is more.
hey jeff. i really dug this, until they started screaming. I think the edit started to get muddled and off. Beautifully shot. Under a 1000? How many shoot days? Did you use 35mm lenses on that camera?
Appreciate the comments guys. Always room for improvement.
C-Dub, shoot days? God, all the performance stuff was done in one night, as that's all we could afford. The rest of the video was done with natural lighting with actors who would work for free. The entire shoot spanned over 2 1/2 months. Extremely grueling, not so much in production, but the waiting...
I've done several videos, and max production days usually rest around 2-3. So to go from that to 2+ months. Maybe I'm just weird, but the more you wait, the more paranoid and emotional you become about the project. The pressure ways down, blah, blah.
But in the end I'm very proud of it. But I appreciate any and all critiques guys, it's the only way to improve.
And it's a stock HVX lens. No adapter (though I own the Redrock, it's just such a pain to work with.)
Really well-shot - excellent video. Love everything about it but the red balloon shot - reminded me a little too much of Schindler's List's red girl. Beautiful lighting and the compositing thing added a nice little post-modern thing. Congratulations!
