Evanescence - Lithium (Dir: Paul Fedor)

Please, please just tell me why oh why this DUMB ASS made the video look like the one he did for Manson in 2001 ('The Nobodies')?? MM must be pissed. It's a total auto-rip off.
FEDOR's a talented guy. Just because a certain MM winter scene has a similar feel to this - doesnt justify any of the slander you throw above.
yeah it's still an interesting video regardless of the similarities. we wrote something about it a while back.
Paul fedor is an amazing director, painter, and texture mapper. Don't hate.
I worked with Paul (on this video and a few others) and he's a great director to work for, and one of the funniest dudes I know. Martin Coppen is an incredible DP too, he shot this. . .
the shittypretzel strikes again.
I'm not trying to be a player hater. I just don't uderstand that! And don't try to say it's just about 'winter feel'. This video is almost completely the same. Like using the same idea once more after few years, in Evanescence vid just because they are more tv friendly.
SHITTYPRETZEL is a fool. The video he keeps comparing this too can be found here: www.youtube.com
On first glance you'll see there's almost no comparison save a 'winter scene'. Fedor's work is solid.
Note: Fedor was actually a flame artist before he started directing promos.

lusk81 don't call me names. I am not offending you, just Paul Fedor who is a mighty director. 9 comments later and you didn't give me any real arguments this video is not an auto rip-off. Visuals, edit, camera movements, colors.. IT"S A CLICHE.
The 'pretzels got some mighty high standards for an Evanescence video.
That's it spit! Good point. Cheers boys 'n' girls!
Did anyone stop to think that GASP!! that the parts you like (or don't like) might not be ALL the director's idea? Perhaps the band, the label, the singer or the manager all asked for a winter video (or something with dead trees, or whatever). Mr. Fedor is a talented guy, but EVERY working director gets themes or wardrobe or even specific shots dictated to him from time to time. (You are familiar with the phrase 'working director', right?)
This video seems pretty good to me and my first instinct is to chalk up the redundancies with recent AFI/MCR vids to the artist involved, even though I know nothing about the specifics of the clip. This looks like EXACTLY the kind of video Ms. Lee should be doing if she wants to sell CDs. Assuming they still sell those things.
yeah, knowing amy lee, i can assure you she had very heavy input on this video.
though the set design for the scene in the MM video does look very similar to the one used by evanescence, they are utilized towards very different ends. it would be something else if the two shared some other thematic or narrative connection, but they are completely distinct in what they are trying to convey. i don't really see a problem even if he did choose to intentionally recycle the imagery (which i doubt), because this video is about something else entirely.
I heard Amy asked for most of this shit in the brief. This video bores the hell out of me, but is beautifully shot. The differences in aesthetic quality between this and Marc Webb's very similar AFI "Love Like Winter" (undoubtably what she was referencing) illustrate the difference in caliber between the two directors.
Not my favorite video by a long shot, but Paul Fedor is a great director and undoubtably "one of the good ones" in this business that is occaisionally art. God forbid he occaisionally does a job pay his light bill, snitch.
